O Windows Small Business Server 2008 foi desenvolvido a partir do Windows Server 2008 e inclui:

* Windows Exchange Server 2007
* Windows SharePoint Services 3.0
* Enhanced Remote Web Workplace
* Inscrição trial de um ano para o Microsoft Forefront Security para Exchange Server Small Business Edition
* Inscrição trial de um ano para o novo Windows Live OneCare for Server

O SBS 2008 Premium também inclui o SQL Server 2008 e o Windows Server 2008 para ser executado em um segundo servidor.

O Windows Essential Business Server 2008 foi desenvolvido a partir do Windows Server 2008 e inclui:

* Forefront Security para Exchange Server
